Department of Archaeology
Department of Archaeology is the largest and constituent section of the Department of Archaeology and Museology. It offers archaeology studies in European context in Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral study programmes. The pedagogical and research activities are realised by prominent experts in the discipline.
It is equipped with high-tech instrumentation for field and laboratory research and with own research stations Těšetice, Pohansko and Panská Lhota.
It carries out systematic archaeological survey and excavations in the regions of Znojmo, Břeclav and Vysočina, and systematic research campaigns abroad, among others the systematic excavations of the Celtic oppidum Bibracte in France.
It organises international conferences and lectures held by foreign experts.
It is a significant partner of foreign research organisations and many foreign universities within the Erasmus+ programme.
It has an almost ninety-year-long history.
