Virtual reconstructions in archaeology. Experiences from the University of Alicante.
Abstract: Digital technologies are playing an increasingly important role in the Humanities, and particularly in Archaeology. Almost all the usual workflows in this field are improved and enhanced by the application of software and hardware, to the point of developing new dynamics and processes. One of the most common applications of digital technologies is to develop virtual reconstructions of the past. In this session we will review the usual work steps in virtual reconstruction projects, the most frequently used technologies, and some case studies and recent projects carried out by the Department of Archaeology at the University of Alicante.
