Preservation laboratory provides for care for tangible finding originate from archaeological field excavations. Primary processing includes cleaning, removing sinter and corrosions, sorting, record keeping and basic reconstruction.

Preservation of metal artefacts is provided on field research bases. Field research base in Panská Lhota focuses on preservation of metal findings from Rokštejn castle excavation and from wide prospecting activity (detectoring) in areas of deserted medieval villages. Gained artefacts firstly are mechanically cleaned without further destruction. Then they are soaked in distilled water, mechanically cleaned again, and finally preserved by tannate and wax. Preservation process is reversible. Yet this kind of preservation enables present the artefact during education or exhibition with maximal visual information.

Field research base in Pohansko near Břeclav is focused on preservation of metal artefacts from own excavation research. Mechanic cleaning removes off corrosions firstly. Further preservation is electrolytic.
